i have the new fios hooked up in my house. i have a wireless router in the living room that is hooked into the fios. down in the basement, i have a ps2 and an xbox 360 that i would like to connect to the internet, a pc upstairs with a wireless networking card and another pc in the living room and my laptop downstairs in the basement that runs on wireless. i have another wireless router that i have used in the past that still works fine. is it possible to send the signal from the living room to a router in the basement? can they be set up to receive a signal, as opposed to sending one? if not, what are my other options? help would be appreciated.

You need an extender (sometimes called a relay point or repeater). Place it halfway between the basement and the existing router.

BTW there's a nice little piece of freeware called wifi Sistr that can show in real time the signal strength on your laptop as you walk around the house.

Be aware that for each repeater you use, the bandwidth will halve. So if you currently get 54 Mbps this will fall to 27 Mbps with one repeater.
