well, universally (and on Sex in the City), it is called a John Thomas. BUT, in the Midwest we also call it a 'johnson'... no first name. Just a johnson... as in, "He whipped out his johnson and everyone laughed."
My suggestion is... just call it a penis.

I love the sound of both your options. As has already been answered, it's a John Thomas but it's quite an old fashioned term these days. I haven't heard it for years. These days they are much cruder.
