Blame the puppeteers, not the puppet. Bush is only doing what he's told to do by members of the Bilderberg Conference who selected him to be the U.S. President in the first place. Anyone who believes this unconstitutional, illegal, unjustified, immoral 'war' in Iraq is about bringing democracy to Iraq is incredibly naive. Anyone who thinks this 'war' in Iraq is about defending our country from terrorists is very gullible. Anyone who assumes this is all about establishing peace in the Middle East is shallow.
This 'war' against another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States is the greatest lie ever told to the American people. This 'war' is all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING, and we will be in Iraq until we've sucked every drop of OIL from its sands.
IF that's not the case, WHY are we building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the modest headquarters of the 'new' Iraqi puppet government installed by the Bush administration??
IF that's not the case, WHY is Halliburton building fourteen (yes - 14!) new permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq???
Ever since World War II, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex (which Eisenhower warned us about) realized how 'profitable' 'war' could be. So, all the politicians were bought up, pricey lobbyists were hired, and special interest groups were formed to promote and encourage more 'war', all so corporations like McDonnell-Douglass, Lockheed-Martin and Sikorsky could amass billions in boosted profits after lean peacetime years. Now, the two 'newcomers' to the federal government's war trough have bellied up to the bar: the Carlyle Group and Halliburton both have direct ties to the Bush-Cheney White House, and both have raked in billions from U.S. taxpayers during this insane 'war'.
Finally, if you don't believe the government's lying to you about the reasons for this insipid 'war', consider how many times it's lied to you in the past:
a) The government has never satisfactorily explained the events in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947, especially to those who lived there and witnessed everything;
b) There is still some speculation that FDR knew about the Pearl Harbor attack in advance, but did nothing to stop it, knowing how it would drag us into World War II;
c) The Warren Commission whitewashed a report on the JFK assassination, sanitizing it so that most people still believe it was the work of one crazed, lone gunman - and all documents were sealed for 75 years (until 2038) so that most of us who witnessed the event won't be around to find out the truth or examine the documents;
d) The government lied about U-2 spy planes flying over the U.S.S.R. until Khrushchev shot one down and displayed it for all the world to see;
e) The government lied about U.S. battleships being 'attacked' in the Gulf of Tonkin, which led us into the Vietnam War;
f) The government lied about the effects of Agent Orange on Vietnam veterans;
g) The White House lied about a third-rate burglary in the Watergate Hotel until two enterprising young reporters dug out the truth and forced a U.S. President to resign;
h) The government lied about 'weapons of mass destruction' in Iraq, which led us directly into this insane, immoral Iraqi 'war';
i) The government lied about torture and sexual abuse of 'detainees' in direct violation of the rules of the Geneva Convention, of which the U.S. is a signatory;
j) The government lied about secret CIA prisons.
Isn't it possible to suspect that the government might have lied to us about the events surrounding 9-11-01, and has also lied to us about the real reasons we're in Iraq?
Isn't it possible that the military has lied to our troops about why they are being put in harm's way? Not to bring democracy to Iraq, but to make a handful of wealthy elitists, industrial and power brokers even wealthier and more powerful???
Aren't we American citizens derelict in our Constitutional duties when we fail to question our government, refuse to doubt our government's word, or bother to have even a modicum of skepticism as to our government's motives??

you could not placed the blame on occasion politics. i think of their are unknown factors that are to blame for those wars. The French have been getting uninterested in Viet Nam and the u . s . very particularly got here alongside to snatch the baton. that would not sound like occasion politics. As for the democrats having a mandate, that's not from the ordinary public yet of their very own making. A mandate is an overpowering majority helping a controversy. Bush is having the comparable subject. His polls are way down yet nevertheless treats the Iraq conflict like a mandate. in spite of the undeniable fact that on occasion there are risks the ordinary public isn't attentive to. yet we shouldn't factor hands and blame people to even the score.

Of course not! Nor can you ignore the voters who put him in office, the skeptical politicians who initially supported the illegal invasion of Iraq but supported the decision to invade anyway or the military/industrial complex that inevitably profits from war tools production regardless of how many lives are sacrificed at the front lines. Since we are a democratic republic, we all share the blame to some extent (maybe the silent dissenters should have been more vocal or forceful in their opposition). And as taxpayers, we are all financing his continuing policies, and will continue paying this huge bill for many years to come! No, G W Bush is not solely to blame; he just happens to be the leader who chose this path and encouraged (and possibly manipulated) those willing thousands to follow.

The military only does what the White House tells it to do. From the beginning, senior military personnel have told Bush that invading Iraq was a bad idea. A number of our senior military have made it clear that they will retire if the White House issues orders to attack Iran.
So, all of the blame rests on the Bush Administration, their corporate buddies, and the neocon nitwits who thought up the stupid idea in the first place.

George W Bush is President, and therefore accountable. (Have you heard of Truman's sign on his desk "The buck stops here" ?)
Moreover, the war in Iraq is a war that the President chose. Whether it was justified or not, we were not forced into it, we were not requested in by any other country, and we were not treaty-bound to military action*. This makes GWB responsible as well as accountable.
* Don't assert that the UN sent us into Iraq. Read the debates at the time. Read the UN resolutions. And take the White House statements at the time at face value "The US will act whether or not the UN acts"

The blame is not on Bush, its on congress and the Senate. As is all the previous battles and "wars", its not the military running the wars its the Government. Place the wars in the hands of the military, the wars, conflicts, searches for terrorists, and all other BS would be over quickly. But the politicians want the upper hand so they can be attributed with victories. Let the military do their job!!!

Cool head in the military, and the non-oil portion of corporate America counseled against it. He's the Decider. It's his responsibility.

Bush is to blame.
Rove, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld and the rest of them are to blame.
Clinton, Edwards, Dodd, Biden and every other congressman who voted for the war is to blame.
The militart-industrial complex is to blame.
Theres plenty of blame to go around. People who focus on Bush are looking for a scapegoat, theyre not interested in the reality of things.
