I used to have this problem and I tried St Johns Wort anti-depressants which are the non-strong ones so I couldn't get hooked on them, but after like 5 months they stopped working and they used to make me really tired. Steer clear of "Happy Pills" too. You need to find the source of your unhappyness and try to change it. Boredom can also bring depression since there's nothing to take your mind off how low you feel. Talking to a close relative or friend does help because they care about you and they'll want to try to make you happy again.
Also, unhappyness will come and go, but it won't be there forever. It just depends on the circumstances.
Try to find and hobby and doing something that you enjoy which can be done with friends of other people (don't do things on your own, doing it with others is much more fun). Although that "hobby" sounds quite lame, so basically something fun that will keep you busy and make sure that you always have something fun planned to look forward to :)

depression can't just get up and walk away. Depression is caused by a person being sad, very unhappy, mopey, unmotivated in life, etc... Depression comes and goes, what matters is that u the individual realize that u are depressed. By doing this then u can ask yourself and figure out why your depressed, how is forming, why do I feel this way, etc... If your unable to figure out why your so depressed then I recommend seeing a psycholagist. They are very good in helping people finding the answer of why there depressed and how they can get rid of it or channel in into positive energy or reinforcement of themselves. I had terrible depression when I was young and I don't have any depression problems any more because I went and talked to a psychologist and he made me feel better. So if u can go and see one, if not try to get some close friends to help u feel better or do something exciting or interesting that yourself finds to be important and then ask your friends if they can do it. That way u have interaction with stimuli of yourself but with others and I hope it decreases u from being depressed. Alright, hope it works

Also reading or seeing things that are funny do reduce depression so watch Comedy Central or one of your favorite comedians and just laugh, laugh your *** off because laughter is the greatest medicine in the world, so many people don't realize how powerful that stuff is.

heyy ok well i know this may sound retarted but i read that one hug a day reduces a little stress so that can help also just think why are you depressed whats wrong and then you will know that your life isnt the worst and that there is someone else out in the world with a worse life then yours also killing yourself or injuring yourself in anyway is not the answer at all DONT DO THAT!! THATS A NONO! jk but seriously dont do that. Drugs isnt the answer either that just makes everthing worse even thought it may seem better.. its not just thing about the things that make you happy and think about the things you have to live for. and believe me there has to be at least one things you want to live for and if nothing that i just said works do something like this.. write down everything on a piece of paper that is bothering you and making you stressed out and make a list and start from the first thing and try and fix that thing or make it less stressful for yourself and go throught the whole list. exercise reduces stress too. and any kind of relaking reduces stress so relax take a hot bath or get a massage. just remember there is always a way to fix things

im depressed 2 and i hate it i know how it feels to be hurt. the darkness will never go away all i can hold on 2 right now is that sum day it will go away and that their is a light at the end of the tunnel and that this life is only 4 so long but we have eternal life in heaven.

i know this might be hard but tell your parents u r depressed and seek a doctor/ therapist.

i go to a psychologist every week and a psychiatry doctor every 2 wks i take 2 anti depressant pills im only 14

i know what u r going through may b we could help each other out . . .if u want

Depression can be caused from many different things.
It can be phisical, metal, or spiritual. In my opinion depression can usually be traced back to some type of anger.
The anger can be caused from things that have happened or are happening that are out of your control.

I think the first thing you should know is that there is hope.
I have had depression in the past and know that it can change. You have to realize that no matter what you are going through it can get better and change.
I found out that a lot of the things that were controlling my thoughts were not reality, unfortuneatly it was my reality at the time.
I have met rich people, poor people, religious people, people that don't believe in God, all types that suffer from depression.
People will always tell you that, oh its not that bad, but it is not their reality.
I was raised very religious and that is where my depression started. I could never live up to what I thought God expected from me.
I now believe in God and live a depression free life because I accept who I am and know that God loves me. God has forgiven me and I have forgiven myself.
Know I help people get out of depression and am having a great life. I have been invited to many countries and had a blast in Pakistan where many peoples lives were changed.

I now know the ansewer and laugh at the things that used to cause me to fall into depression.

try, try, try to take your mind off of everything and do something fun and hilarious. I suggest going with your freinds to the mall, and doing crazy stuff while buying cool things. When your with your friends i think everything seems better. You could go to a therapist and talk your heart out about your problems, or if that isnt you, write a song or a poem or a story.
To take your mind off things, do this stuff with your friends.
1. Go to the mall and buy a bunch of stuff at Hot Topic, do crazy thins in the middle of the mall like fall asleep on the midget beds and listen to music at the music store. Or, you ould have everybody start a major mosh party. All of these things will make you laugh so hard youll forget about everything.
2. Go to the movies and watch a really cheesy looking movie and then make fun of it.
3. Write. write songs, poems, storys, or keep a journal of your thoughts. Nothing feels better. :)
4. Play Guitar Hero all day!
5. Throw a partay! Have everyone over for snacks and drinks and play loud music and hang out.
6. Go on medication that doesnt make you gain weight or have unspeakable nightmares. Talk to the doc.

If you're depressed a lot, it might be time to see a doctor and get some help.

Some small things that help me when I'm feeling a little down are to get out, meet friends,just do anything fun. Pamper yourself any way you can think of, whatever might do the trick for you. Seriously, do not turn into a hermit, because that's the worst thing you can do.

I used to be depressed a couple years ago...
I almost killed myself.
I'm not depressed anymore...and ill tell you why
I found everything in my life to be worthless...until i met this boy(he never new i was depressed...i was good at hiding it)
honestly no one ever cared for me so much...not even my parents.
I was depressed for about 1 year...we only lasted for a couple months but it honestly was a wake up call...and the thought of being depressed doesnt cross my mind anymore

maybe you should try to find someone...if you havent already

Well I know I'm gonna sound like a preacher but....man you need Jesus I'm telling you he is always there.He will never leave you or forsake you.Look I'm not trying to push a RELIGION on you believe me I can't stand religion,Christianity is;nt about joing a a religion. or following some crazy strict weird rules all it is about is expecting Jesus as your Lord and savior and having a personal relationship with him ,he is always there he is so amazing,I know I need him and he is ALWAYS there for me he helps me get through things I could not do alone.Look I know this sounds stupid to you like yeah right that's all made up and just freaky but let me tell you Jesus is more real to me then anything I know.Tell him that you don't believe in him and ask him to prove him self to you man if you seek him he will find you please give him a chance that's all he asks.Please try he will get rid of that emptiness you have.trust him.

pray.
pain is something that can't just go away. you have to believe that it will go away, and pray the same. when I'm depressed i always think about the pain. then i cry. and cry until i can't cry anymore and there's nothing else to cry about. never let the anger you let out become physical anger. don't ever hurt someone, or hurt yourself. hurting yourself causes more pain and suffering. and hurting someone else, emotionally or physically, will damage that person and only leave you with less than you had before. so my advice is to pray, and let your anger out in a non-physical way. don't let your frustration take you over. and don't be afraid to pray or cry or whatever. crying actually really helps let your emotions out. and when your depressed, a release is what you need.
