You forgot to mention how old You are.

If you are under 17 then you should break up with him because he would be too old for you. A girl in her teens needs a guy her age or he'll try to manipulate her very easily.

If you are a few years older than him and he's gonna be 18 soon, then I don't see what the problem is. Guys are more sexually mature than girls, anyways. Some of them can even act with a nice level of maturity in some situtations. It depends on the person, not the age or gender, really. I know girls who are much more immature than guys a lot younger than them. They just dress and try to act mature but are not at all!!! I should know. Women also live longer than men.

No, something like that is okay. Though it technically becomes illegal for the two of you to have a sexual relationship, the courts are generally prepared to overlook such a marginal difference in age.

Although when those laws were first written, it was illegal to have sex without marriage anyway. So the only way for you to have sex was to be married, which would have superceded the underage laws. Kind of an interesting way to point out how our laws need to be tweaked to fit the times, eh?

Since you're asking this question it seems you're already considering a breakup so go ahead and do whatever you really want to do instead of letting the guy believe you are still interested in him. You would probably be doing him a wonderful favor.

So the question is if you should break up with your boyfriend because he is turning 18?
I don't get it.

Why do you want to break up? From my experience and everyone I have ever known, youth-full relationship just don't last. Just remember there are 6 billion others to choose from. And you have the rest of your life as well. Never settle, trust me.

Well what's wrong with him? You need to go into more detail. But it depends, is this about his age? If that is the case then no. My mom is 40 and she is married to a 32 year old man! Age is just a factor that kids like 6th graders complain about!

Sweetie if you have strong feelings for him and he treats you like a lady should be treated then the age really shouldn't matter. relationships are based on love and trust not age. if people are concerned about the age ignore them you shouldn't care what they think just follow your heart. it will lead you in the right direction. i hope you make the right decision.

i have to say if your leaving this decision up to people on yahoo you dont know and you barley give ANY detail maybe you should for his sake.
(and that really wasnt suposed to be mean)
you havnt told us how old you are, if your turning 16 or older then there shouldnt be a problem, its not very fair to him to break up with him just because of his age.
i mean really now that i think about it, if your asking yourself if you should, maybe you should for other reasons then his age, just thinka bout how you truley feel about him and thats all taht should matter, not his age or yours. (unless your like 13...then you know...uh yeah break up with him) just dont do anything stupid.

Unlike everyone else, I see where you are coming from. your maturity level and your freedom level will be higher. But I think it is very shallow to break up based on age level. It should be because of something like maturity. Age is just a number.
