If lie detectors actually worked in a reasonable manner, they should be hooked up to them for the duration of being in office.

Yeah, let's do that. And while we're at it, we should hook up all the radio talk show hosts. When the lie detector shows that they are being less than truthful, their microphones should automatically cut off. I don't know what it would do for politics in this nation, but there would sure be a lot less hot air...

Absolutely, but it will never happen because they are the very ones who would have to pass a law to do so.
Our debate system is meaningless, they have subject matter reports before the debates so they can ready the "proper" answers.

I would much rather see judges rate the answer. We used to call these reporters but nowadays they are sticking their nose into politics instead of reporting the news.
I would love to see a panels of judges say: sorry, but you didn't answer the question- 0 points

we could constantly be hooking up all of the politicians and wannabe's up earlier we forged our votes! have not we discovered a lesson from the final election yet??? It wouldn't help. They have practiced the answers so many times that they believe they're telling the truth. The polygraph would not register them as lying.
