I am trying to conceive. I have been trying to determine my LH surge for the past 3 months but cannot find it. I have now started to chart my BBT.

On 05 Aug my temperature rised and have stayed high since.

My questions are:

Did I ovulate and, if yes, why didn't my test sticks pick up my LH surge?

And, is it possible to have a temperature rise and not ovulate?

Please help. I should have had my period a week ago now but my pregancy tests have been negative (on first morning urine) and I am wondering whether I am a "duff".

Generally speaking when you have a clear temp shift, you ovulated. Your temp went up and stayed up on Aug. 5, then you most likely O'd on Aug 4. Your period comes on average 14 days after ovulation so you would be due--Aug19--tomorrow--for your period.
Some women don't ever see a pos opk--their LH surge just isn't high enough for the sticks to pick it up. Try another brand of test, and be sure you are testing between 11am-3pm, holding urine AT LEAST 4 hours and not drinking anything during those 4 hours. And don't use first morning urine for opk's.

Good luck!

I can't really answer your question but if your bbt rised on the 5th then you actually should not be expecting your period until tomorrow, the 19th or there about. You should get your period 12 to 15 days after you see a bbt rise. The only thing I can think is maybe you used the opk incorrectly or your LH was not detectable. Hope this is helpful.

I don't think you would have normal hormone signatures (regular bbt chart) and not ovulate. All the anovulatory charts I have seen were obvious, i.e. bbt's all over the place and inconsistent. Good luck!

The average number of days between temperature rise and the arrival of the next period is 14 days. Although it can be a few days either side of this. So don't worry, you are not 'late' yet.

Taking and recording your BBT is much more accurate than using sticks (and it is free) you should trust the temps and save you money for maternity clothes!

Your temperature rising, accompanied by fertile mucus, is a 100% certain sign of ovulation.

Stress can delay ovulation so try not to worry too much about getting pregnant (easier said than done i know!).

Ive been charting for over a 365 days and its surprisingly precise to me.. I even have very ordinary sessions and this final cycle I didnt ovulate until eventually CD60.. and precisely 12 days later AF got here.. you're able to desire to be surprisingly consistent with your wake-up cases however. in case you started charting and you have been waking up at 9am.. you're able to proceed to evoke at 9am and take your temp (in spite of in case you pass perfect decrease back to sleep afterwards) once I temp, Ive observed that if I awaken at 10am to take my temp and pass decrease back to sleep until eventually 12pm.. my temp would be way larger than what it replaced into at 10am you additionally must attempt to apply the comparable coverings and attempt to maintain your mattress room the comparable temperature each evening.. i understand thats not easy to do in spite of the undeniable fact that that's going to help your temps be extra precise
