that way when they get older they will be more prone to join up and fight in Iraq?

How about we teach them to read and write instead, with an emphasis on reading critically? Mandatory Literacy would go a long way to redressing most of America's problems. And the increased public participation that resulted would increase Volunteerism, because we'd be less likely to fight wars that aren't in America's interest.

More education in history and the classics wouldn't hurt either.

Well, I agree that we should start with the children if we're to have any hope of ever achieving a lasting peace abroad or within our own borders but that's about the only thing you've said that I can agree with. Why is it that all we seem to know how to do is wage war? The "war" on terror, the "war" on drugs, the "war" on obesity. Even after all of the war mongering we're still (allegedly) at risk, fat and addicted. The way to achieve peace on earth is through education and understanding not by perpetuating an atmosphere of fear and putting a gun in the hand of every child. If WE hadn't started sh@t in Iraq, there wouldn't be any sh@t in Iraq. The 9/11 bombers were from Saudi Arabia and there were very few, if any, terrorist cells in the country before the start of the war.

Ummmm lets think about that for a whole half a second..NO!!! What are you nuts? I don't know about you but I think there are more important things for kids to be learning than how to shoot a gun at the age of 9!
What you want every kid in every school to know how to shoot a gun at nine? That's great why don't we go ahead and put the gun in there hands on their way to school?

No.
By the time they get to age 18, the war will be over and will have gone through hell at age 9 for nothing.

Sure! why not, and while we are at it, we can have them do odd jobs, like cleansing the country of people who have dysfunctional DNA. Nothing like bringing back the ol eugenic catastrophes.
