I personally think so. The Dubya Administration is the most capricious of them all. He has been bestowed the ability to suspend Habeas Corpus, conduct a war under false pretenses, and be allowed the right to nullify the Bill of Rights. How in the world is he still in office? Clinton got in trouble for an affair and was impeached. Now this one has killed at least 700,000 people for personal reasons.

I would in fact be eligible for a draft in 4 years and 9 days from now.

Venom, do you live in Laos, Vietnam, China, North Korea, or Cuba?

Daniel, you are right about that. However, the government doesn't have to take away our freedom of speech. In other countries, people are too scared to do anything about it. Over here, people won't even listen to you.
Case in point: How many people take Michael Moore seriously enough to revolt?

As I said in response to another question: This country (U.S.A) is like that "wolf in sheep's clothing." It's a dictatorship that creates a costume of freedom- a costume that was/is carefully crafted by politicians, government officials, judges, big business, etc... This costume is worn by each president- he who has the power to create illegal and unconstitutional laws (Executive Orders) without the consent of Congress or the citizens. With a few strokes of a pen, the dictator (Oops, I mean president. HA!) can suspend the Constitution for an indefinite amount of time.

I'm guessing that those who are defending this government are either children or blinded by the cowboy patriotism that's promoted in this country. By the way, what is a "true dictatorship"? Are you people ignorant enough to think that armed guards have to knock down your doors, kill your family members, confiscate your property, and demand that you worship the state, in order for a government to be a dictatorship? SHEESH!

EDIT: Someone mentioned "oligarchy"... Yes, a much better term. I'd say we waver back and forth between the two, dictatorship and oligarchy, depending upon one's view.

All Hail King George! It more like a oligarchy (oligarchia, ‘rule of the few’), the limitation of political power to a portion of the community, such as a few families or individuals (the oligarchs). It was characteristic of oligarchs that they possessed greater wealth and influence than the rest of the community; high birth was not a necessary condition (compare ARISTOCRACY), but in Greece it commonly happened that the oligarchs were a section of the old nobility which had excluded from power the poorer nobles. Even during the second half of the fifth century BC, when Athenian ascendancy promoted democratic forms of government, there were still many oligarchic states in Greece, the most notable perhaps being at Corinth and at Thebes. The government at Rome under the republic is often described as ‘oligarchical’; see NOBILES and REPUBLIC.

If, in fact, we lived in a Dictatorship, I suspect that the people in black helicopters would already be circling your house within minutes after you composed this question... think about it.

You may not necessarily agree with the president's policies, but at least you still have the right to disagree, to express it dozens of ways, and you can chose to elect someone else you agree with when you do grow up.

Perhaps you should consider how our human rights compare with places like China or Cuba where they really have dictatorships, and you can't express any dissenting opinions against the government...

Case in point - a news article from CNN about a Chinese cyber-dissident who has been jailed for 4 years.

Yep, spoken like a true 14 year old.

No, the Bush administration is not a dictatorship.

You have apparently been very influenced by liberal media not to mention the teachers in our borderline socialist public education system.

There are interests in the world that flatly state that their goal is to destroy the United States.

These interests are international in nature so it makes it difficult to point to a single country as the "enemy". However, there is a web of supporting nations (Iraq, Iran, North Kora, etc... you know, those "axis of evil" places).

The unfortunate reality is that one major front in any war is that of public opinion and, given our free and liberal leaning media, it is pretty easy for those who do not have this country's best interests at heart to sway public opinion towards the idea that the current administration is the evil aggressor any time it takes action when the fact is this administration is simply protecting our interests and disrupting the network of support of international terrorism.

I know these facts don't mesh with your adolescent idealism. I suspect your opinions will change as you gain a bit more perspective on the world.

EEEEHHHHHHHHH.

Excuse me, that was my B.S. propaganda alarm going off.

You who have not lived under a TRUE dictatorship cannot even begin to understand what it is really like. You should feel fortunate to live in a relatively safe place where our leaders are ultimately held accountable by the people....There is no government sponsored militia going to snatch you from your bed tonight and shoot you in the street, that kind of stuff happens in places ruled by TRUE dictatorship.

I hope the U.S. government imposes a draft so uneducated parrots like yourself can get a real sense of how good they really do have it here...and how much worse it can be. You know, at least the terrorists are willing to fight and die for what they believe. That is much more honorable than the whining and finger-pointing going on within the ranks of our liberal population.

M. Moore is a self-promoting purveyor of anti-American sentiment. He is not un-American, it is most patriotic to question the government but it is un-American to whine about the problems without sitting down to the table to offer realistic solutions. His credibility is lacking even among his peers. One cannot follow the lemmings off a cliff and later complain when hitting the rocks, by then it is too late.

Why even waste our time, like most of the liberal disciples, you most likely turn a deaf ear to any dissenting opinion. When you eventually have a career, children, and own a home, you will fully understand.

During the Vietnam war the American people stopped the senseless murder of innocent Vietnamese by dissent & protest. Talking about this stuff does nothing - actions speak very loudly!

Yes, the fulfillment of his dad's New World Order. Great way to pwn our hallowed Constitution at the same time too. So much for checks and balances, that is what keeps us from being a 3rd world banana repbulic!

The whole country has been a dictatorship since they signed the Declaration of Independence....they don't keep the REAL documentation at the National Archives....the REAL stuff is at Area 51.
Now THERE'S a conspiracy theory for you people with over active imaginations to wrap your minds around!

No, it's not a dictatorship, but he is grabbing a lot of power that shouldn't be held by the President. There are supposed to be "checks and balances" to keep any one branch of government from amassing too much power. W just ignores these, just like he ignores the law, treaties, and anything else he doesn't like.
