If I "had to" classify myself....o_O This is going to go over like a lead balloon.
Currently, from all appearances....I look sort of like a Stealth Headbanger. I do like some metal music from time to time, have let my hair grown out some....but I don't have the time or patience to deal with the piercings, tats and crap.
When I was younger, my look alternated between a "laid-back/easy-listening" thing and something more *geeky*.
In all honesty though....I don't look *anything* like I am either.
When I was younger, folks who knew me said I was "sensitive" or a "momma's boy", which would make me "emo" these days--imagine that, being emo before the idea existed. -_- Lot of good it did me....yeah, I boo-hooed some, had the tight pants to prove it. But nobody really liked it or got it....and I'm really too chubby for the look *now*.
These days...well, nobody's heard of *this one* either, but....
I'm a Mad Scientist. More specifically, a frustrated *utopian*. I was just a little bit too old, showed up a little bit too late, to get into most techno and *be* the candy raver....and now, it's like, "Are we really there yet? It's supposed to be the 21st century, so why does everything look and sound like a total *throwback*?" Really. It's like there's nothing new out there anymore and it *should be* out there, and more to the point it *should be* way the hell smarter than what it is (hip hop? pop music? just about *everything* is dumbed down lately).
And yeah....there are others like me, out there on this internet at least. Trouble is, we seem to be one in a million. There's but a handful of us scattered out there, here and there across the time zones.
Oh well, what can you do? ^_^ I tried to answer as *honestly* and truthfully as I could.
Edit: As for "Why?" It's simple really. People don't like to be alone. Being a Minority of One can be really unsettling and disturbing, especially if you don't *choose* to be such. Most of us are social animals as well as intelligent ones, so we look for families or clans to "hang with", people "like me" who we can talk with freely and do stuff with.
For the most part, it isn't some big, scary "conspiracy" really. Most people form cliques of like-minded people just so they can have friends and get their social (and emotional) strokes and warm fuzzies. ^_^
Oh, wait, you were talking about *teenagers*, not "people"? Ok then, never mind, it *is* one "big scary conspiracy", and it's called High School. *rofl* =))
Thanks for your time! ^_^

there is no classification for me LOL
I guess we do that because classifying things into little groups makes it seem like it would be easier to manage

I am me . that says enough.
people classify them selves because they think they are better then others .and some need and want it to be known who and what they are.

I am unclassifiable, and I know people who could vouch for that. I can't explain other people's desire to look like each other, either.

Laid back and casual.
I think it's so they can feel like they fit in somewhere.
