If sin x = .57, then what does sin (pi - x) =? I keep getting -.524, but I'm told that that is wrong! How do you solve this????

sin(π - x) = sin(x)
you should get 0.57

Convert to radians in your calculator. That's the problem. If you work in degrees you'll get hte following:
x = arcsin(0.57) = 34.75 degrees
π - x = -31.61 deg
sin(π-x) = -0.524

BUT you need to work in radians not degrees.

sin(pi-x) = sin pi cos x - cos pi sin x
Now sin pi = 0 and cos pi = -1 so
the final result is sin x.
So sin(pi-x) = .57 also.
