He hasn't been back since he left when he was 12 years old. What's that part of Cleveland like now compared to what it was like then?

Sorry to say that your father's old neighborhood has turned into a ghetto long time ago. Most of Cleveland has become very run down except for a handful of neighborhoods on the southwest side of the metro area.

Hough Avenue is a run down part of town, since the riots in the late 60's early 70's, and most have moved out. I dont know what it was like in the 40's and 50's but I'm not sure you'll find a similar neighborhood.

Well, parts of Hough are being revised. But for the most part Hough is a rundown street that a lot of people try to avoid. From what I understand, Hough was never the same after the riots.
