Do you think someone could have actually been someone in a past life? Or is this just a form of insanity?

I believe yes, A good case of this, actually Happened in Mexico, where this girl was born in one family, but recognized another family in the next village as her own, knowing all members, from a young age, and questioning the fact, that she wasn't living with them. eventually it was taken to courts, and the girl was allowed to regularly visit this other house and family, like they were her family.
They did a study on this phenomenon, but could not come to any conclusion other than the girl knew things, that only family members, of an earlier era would know, with 100% accuracy.
I hope there are other Aers, that remember this happening.

The universe is infinite. Why can't the essence of life be infinite in span? If a vehicle for life to live in an environment wears out or is destroyed in some way, why can't a new vehicle be available. It must be very depressing to be in any kind of belief structure that believes you have only one chance to gain knowledge and wisdom before your life is judged by any kind of deity or the universe itself.

No, this is called 'metempsychosis' and it is a mystical belief in the transmigration of souls, that would be reincarnated as plants, animals and humans in order to purify ( for example, in Indian religions, in the religion of the ancient Egypt and in some primitive religions in North America and Australia).

Yes I think so. I feel that there is no way to get everything right, learn all there is to know and experience all we need to experience in just one life. Very few if any could get it right in one shot.
