Jeff O'Neill's career is probably over.
He flirted with retirement at the end of the 2005-06 season, and had to be talked into coming back.
There were several points in the season last year where it looked like he had regained his enthusiasm for the game, but a lot of late season benchings from Maurice didn't help.

Jeff O'Neil has not been picked up yet because he is washed up. If you look at the numbers he has put up over the last three years, 34, 38, and 42 points nobody's going to pay over a million bucks for somebody washed up when they can bring in a young and effective yet cheap player.

O'Neil can't keep pace in the new NHL. He's too slow, just like Jason Allison, who hasn't played a game in 2006-07.

Did hit the 20-goal mark last year, but couldn't get along with a Maurice, a "players' coach". Doesn't bode well for his future.

Because hes not that great of a player.
Look at last year with the Leafs, he had his good moments, but then there were all his mistakes... nobody wants a player like him anymore...
