In terms of price, portability, and internals, I want to buy a macbook 13''. However, I am concerned with the size of the screen. Currently I have a 15'' screen. Would 13' be too small? Would the size get on my nerves eventually?

Go to an Apple Store and check the different sizes out. Then, decide for yourself.

Yes. A 13" laptop is too small to be a main computer. Instead of buying a Macbook, you should buy a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092. I have one, and I love it. I would highly recommend it. It has a 17" screen, which is perfect to use as a family computer.
