Israel has a total of 6 1/2 or so million people in the entire nation. Our $3 billion indirectly fund their kids college tuitions.

Wouldn't this be a good investment on the best "product" a nation can offer, our future generation.

No, it would not be good for our country.

Government money for college students only serves to continually increase tuition. Due to the fact that the government essentially ensures that it will foot the cost of whatever increase colleges feel like making together with the fact that the college atmosphere is incredibly competitive, they will raise tuition to spend money attracting students.

Increasing Pell Grants is hurting us all.

Check the source.

Yes I think more money should be spent on student Education. I'm not talking about my collage being totally paid for by the government but some help is nice! I'm 17 and I have to start thinking about collage next year. I don't have a bank account full of thousands of dollars to send me to collage and my parents can barley keep themselves out of debt!

All you that say we don't need any more money to go towards kids getting into to collage and such what do suppose I do?
I have a job now and 95% of my money goes to help with the bills at home so sorry can't save it all up for it!

I don't like to owe anyone money so no student loans for me I don't plan on paying for them while I'm still in my 30's. So grants are my way of getting through collage!

I'd rather see that $3 billion spent on something that benefits our country instead of sending it elsewhere. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think some are missing the point. If not Pell grants, then how about towards the federal fund that's (supposed to be) used to maintain our highways and infrastructures so they aren't privatized and sold off to big business here and abroad?

Ofcourse!

The people who run our government are bought and serve narrow wealthy interests, not the general public.
Both the Military Industrial Complex and the Israel Lobby have more lobbyists than kids getting ready for College. We are a Plutacracy not a Democracy.

regerugged-"People who want to go to college should pay their own way." It is this attitude that the wealthy should get the best education (who else can afford $40,000-$50,000 a year for many private Universities) that helps reenforce the most unequal distribution of income, education and healthcare (the U.S.) among all Western Democracies.

My nephew is trying to get pell grants. His parents make over 200K a year. But they blow it on everything except an education for their son. If they want an education there are all kinds of grants, scholarships, loans etc...etc...and then there is the old fashion working for it.

Chi,

didn't you vote for Bill? Don't you support Hillary and Obama?

All of them happily vote to send Billions of Dollars to Israel.

What does this say about their supporters who make posts like this on YA?

But, I prefer to see American kids send themselves to college. Why should they depend on handouts? I know people who fought in WWII that put themselves through great colleges. Bravo to them. They are the Greatest Generation.

Our teens should emulate them.

But, I expect Libs will teach our kids how to ask for handouts. Sad.

Chi, Do you support the US giving $30Billion worth of weapons to Muslim nations? Is that OK in your eyes?

Here's a novel idea.. How about parents send their own kids to college, and quit depending on the government to raise their children?

No. Israel is working for the money by helping us fight muslim terrorists. The US military will give anyone who joins money for college, but they have to earn it, something liberals hate.

UNFORTUNATELY 'NO' WHY YOU ASK.BECAUSE OUR COLLEGE STUDENTS HEADS ARE BEING FILLED WITH
SOCIALIST MUSH FROM THE SOCIALIST TEACHERS.AFTER GRADUATING THOSE STUDENTS DO
NOT BECOME AN ASSET TO OUR COUNTRY BUT A
HINDRANCE,THEIR EDUCATION TEACHES THEM HOW TO MARCH IN ANTI AMERICAN PARADES.IT ALSO TEACHES THEM HOW TO GROW LONG UNKEMPT HAIR WEAR BEACH SANDALS WITH DIRTY FEET,GROW UNRULY BEARDS WITH THE ENDS OF THEIR MUSTACHE GROWING INTO THEIR MOUTHS.THEIR CLOTHES HAVE NOT BEEN WASHED IN MONTHS AND TEETH THAT HAVE NOT BEEN BRUSHED IN WEEKS.
NOW DO YOU STILL THINK THAT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA FOR PELL GRANTS OR GIVING THE MONEY TO AN ALLY THAT WILL COME TO OUR AIDE WHEN NEEDED.
