I do not know where it stemmed from.

My heart starts beating really fast when someone next to me says 'I am going to be sick or I feel sick'

If I feel sick, my hands start sweating, its just horrible!

Anyone else like this?

My friend had a real phobia about vomiting. When she had her children she sought some counselling so that she could deal with it as kids get sick and she knew she'd need to be able to comfort them. She's still not really comfortable with it but a lot better than she was!!

Yes, I have the same fear. It limits my life: I don't eat out (fear food poisoning), I don't keep food for very long in the fridge, the norovirus sends me into absolute panic even if I don't know anyone who got it, I hate travelling and often get panic attacks if I go too far from home. I used to be comfortable to travel to the city about 12 miles from home, but the last 2 times I have had terrible anxiety then. I had some therapy but I definately need more, or a different approach as the problem hasn't improved. If you find that your phobia is encroaching on your life please do ask your doctor for help. Also, I find that explaining my fear to my family has really helped: my husband can help me deal with it more logically.

I hate throwing up. It took me years to figure out it's because you can't breathe when you're throwing up! It's a terrible feeling. It's a wave that will pass though and if you know that, you can not fight it and let go when you need to. I have two kids and had terrible morning sickness with each pregnancy (well worth it by the way, I love being a mom!). I had to get very familiar with the toilet. (Have you ever heard of FlyLady? She says "there's nothing that says 'I love you' like a clean toilet during flu season!")

I think this fear is like fear of spiders or snakes, it's very common.

Here's to your good health on every level. May you (and any children you have or will have) enjoy good health!

Cheers!

Wow. you have problems with all bodily functions dont you?
I just read how disgusted you were with your boyfriend farting....Sitting on the toilet must give you nightmares......how disgusting are those brown turds that you drop in the bowl.
Vomit is yuk, yep, I'll give you that. But you need to lighten up a tad I think.

Yeah, I'm afraid of vomiting too. I'm not sure why. I think it's normal though.

I hate to vomit but am not upset if others vomit, as long as it isn't on me...
