Some cultures prefer that guests not wear any red colors as it signifies "joy" or "happiness".

Unlike a wedding, the dress code at a funeral is the same regardless of your affiliation to the deceased. The idea is that you want your look to be subdued. Dressing appropriately is a sign of respect.

What to wear: Dark colored suits, such as navy, charcoal or black are the way to go. Avoid ties and shirts with loud patterns or bright colors. For example, a black suit with a white shirt and a simple burgundy tie is perfectly acceptable.

Make sure you're well groomed; the key word is neat. Finally, black shoes are recommended.

if you wear red everyone will most likely look at you weird, you shouldn't wear bright colors because at a funeral you are in mourning and black representsthat.
bright colors make you happy :)

I can say from experience when my father passed away , I was at calling hours sitting next to my mother and a lady in a red dress , a real shiny thick silk looking dress that she looked like the devil had walked in , it really looked more like a Halloween costume , she looked awful .

Bright red? You'd probably stand out because most people wear black or dark blue. I wore plad when my grandma was laid out, but black to her funeral. I only have so many nice black outfits, and it was a 3 day affair. Plus she always liked plad. :)

really nothing but black is for the loved one that died .such as a dark black day for everyone concerned. mourning. red is considered to resemble life . wearing bright loud colors used to be considered being dis respectful to the dead and their family and friends but now it doesn't matter what is worn as long as you are paying your respects to the dead and the families/ friends.
