I have this friend who I’ve known for about a year or so, and over that year I’ve learned that she doesn’t have a good reputation, she has a reputation of being a s***. She’s a senior and college and I’m a freshman in high school. I’m just afraid that because I am so naïve, and I hang out with her, I will get that reputation. A lot of my friends and family told me to stop hanging out with her. But how do? I can’t just cut her out of my life. I hardly see her, because she lives in North Carolina, and I live in Florida. But when we see each other at functions, we hang out together. I just don’t know how to stop hanging out with her. It wasn’t like I didn’t give her try, I’ve known about her reputation for a while, but I thought, you can’t judge a person from what you have heard, but now I’ve hung out with her enough to understand what my friends were talking about. Please try not to judge me so bad…I just don’t know what to do and I need your help. How do I stop hanging out with her?

Sounds like distance alone takes care of the problem of not hanging out with her. Hanging out at rare social functions is no big deal.

The 6 year age difference alone should be more than enough to keep you two apart. First off, she can get into legal trouble because she is over 18 and you are under 18, so dating is out.

You really need to be playing in your own age group until you get out of college yourself. After the age of 25, it is all relative.
