How about great grandma on daddy's side? That's what we did with our first daughter - grandmas on both sides middle names for her name - and then with 2nd daughter.. I dont remember where we came up with Rachel but we used great-grandmas from hubby's side first name for her middle name because she was greatly loved. A friend of mine's oldest daughter has a family name (Scot) as her middle name, its an older last name, kind of a different middle name. I'd say, don't go crazy and drop the baggage of what many people are doing these days with the weird names on their children. I read a blog, (who doesnt!) and he's got a category called "the name game), and many of the names in there you just go "MY GOD WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE EVEN THINKING!! ARE THEY THINKING?" when you see the names. Also a study was done on "creative names" and here is the link to the link to the UK article about "creative baby names" you may (or may not) wish to read. I read baby books, concentrated mostly on the flow of the name, like not having all names 2 syllables, like going 2, 1, 2, etc. You want the name to just flow right, and smoothly. And sound good on the tongue. Something someone will enjoy saying. Hope my 2c is worth something to you, in your choice of names. Take it for what it's worth, free advice. And always, always! take everyone's advice with a grain of salt - even your own mom's.. remember, everyone has baby advice.. you'll do fine :) Edited to add.. I forgot baby names. here is a site with traditional baby names.. and their meanings. http://www.babynames.com.au/search-categories-timeless.htm
