I think you refer to the issue of pollution and throwing stuff "away". Those among us who are (mostly intentionally) oblivious to pollution issues have an "out of sight, out of mind" attitude. If it's ugly or stinky, just get rid of it anywhere but here. Oceans, rivers, lakes, un (human) inhabited land areas are fine. I think the conservation of matter speaks for itself. Concentrations of chemically stable toxics in "away" increase as the practice continues. "Away" is still here on Earth, and often in places where people will someday live. Oceans, though huge, can be and are being poisoned. Earth itself is finite and corruptible. Someday we'll regret what we're doing because (appealing to self-interest, the only argument that has any hope of gaining traction with such attitudes) we'll have killed off species on which we depend such as edible fish. Please forgive the ranting, but I hope it gives you the general idea.

What the hell is "poll"? And while you're at it, what the hell is "away"? Am I missing something?
