These stars are a recent decorating trend. They are for sale in department stores, discount stores, and home furnishing stores. The presence of a star on someone's house means the houseowner liked the star and wanted one there.

Don't look for extra meaning. It's a star. It looks nice.

Well, if you are in Texas, it's pretty common. Being that Texas is called the "Lone Star State" five-pointed, three-dimensional stars are EVERYWHERE here. In other contexts it can be simply for decor or it can be a good luck or warding sign and dates back to old European superstitions and/or the Wiccan beliefs. It could be any number of things but those are the ones that come to mind.

To the poster two above mine: No, the SIX pointed star is the star of david which represents Judaism.

The five pointed one means that the person is a witch. Or good luck. Whatever.
