(F - 32) / C = 9 / 5
(F - 32) = (9/5) C
F = 32 + (9/5) C

Example
If C = 100° , calculate F.
F = 32 + (9/5) 100
F = 32 + 180
F = 212
ie 100°C = 212°F

(F-32)/C = 9/5

That's based on the fact that if you compare boiling and freezing temperatures, for fahrenheit 212-32 = 180, for celsius 100-0 = 100, the ratio is 180/100 = 9/5. You could say 9 fahrenheit degrees (as an interval) = 5 celsius degrees. So solve the equation:

(F-32)/C = 9/5
F-32 = (9/5)C
F = (9/5)C + 32

well F - 32/C should equal to 9/5

if C = 32, then F = 14/5

ive never seen an equation like it, and I'm doin a phys degree
