If there are higher SPATIAL dimensions,we could no more define or comprehend it than an imaginary 2 dimensional creature in flatland could point to a third dimension.Imagine a two dimensional creature on a piece of paper,it can point north or south(to him,up or down)or it can point east and west,to him, forward and backwards, but it couldn't point to us,sitting looking at it from a higher dimension,in its' world, all that exists are the two dimensions. We couldn't point to a higher dimension, nor logically refute the existence of one,as three dimensional constructs,we simply cannot observe beyond our 3 spatial dimensions.Time is a dimension of a sort, time isn't a spatial dimension however, and we can nether prove nor reject the idea there may be other spatial dimensions.

When anyone uses the term 3D it is referring to space around us, what we can see. The 3 dimensions of height, length and width which are the fundamental basis of the universe. Another fundamental basis is time, just like space, we can not change its properties, although time and space in themselves are constantly changing. There is no factual answer to the 4th dimension, however most scientists consider it to be time. Putting the 4th dimension as time is known as 'spacetime', a term common to most physicists and all astronomers. Although there is no 4th dimension in what we can see or feel, we can use time as it. Don't get confused by anything like 'we're going into the fourth dimension' because we're not.

4th spatial dimension is not known, and can never be known by people since our minds are only capable of understanding the 3rd dimension, and to an extent the ones below it. the fouth dimension would have length, width, depth, and another measurement that is perpendicular to all of those.
