I was given a recording of Black Velvet, but it says the artist is Pat Benatar. I was under the impression that the only recording of that song was by Alannah Myles. Any one know for sure?

If it's true, would anyone know what album it is on?

That's why I hate MP3's. Anyone can put any artist name on there. The uninformed don't even know what they have.

The only famous recordings of the great hit Black Velvet are Alannah Myles (pop/rock) and Robin Lee (country). No other version is in Top 40 of any other format.

Pat Benatar never did that song. I own all her albums.

no. black velvet was written by canadian songwriters david tyson and christtopher ward. it was recorded by alannah myles in 1989 and hit #1 on 3/24/90. it was a song about elvis presley. she does sound a little like pat benatar so i can understand the problem

Well, when googled it, it doesn't show up.
It *says* it is on Last.FM, but when you look they say they don't have it.

I think you have been given a mis-labeled recording.

I've only ever heard Alannah Myles sing it.
