I would go down and see the staff at the benefits office.

If £80 a week is your only income, then I would expect you would be entitled to tax credits maybe, housing support etc.

Take ID down to the office with you, as well as bank statements for the last couple of months etc, anything you can think off, as this means they can start processing your application there and then and will speed things up.

At the very least they can let you know what you would be entitled to, and i`m sure you`ll get more than you are getting now.

You will be entitled to claim the full maternity grant of £500 from the government. Next appointment with your midwife ask her for a form to claim it as u are now at the correct stage in ur pregnancy to receive it. Also i would see if you are entitled to claim any tax credits.

The father of your child should be in full time employment so the idea is that you both live on his earnings until you can go back to work. Or you then stay at home and become a housewife and he earns the money to look after the family.

i was only entitled to job seekers til 28wks preg, then got nothing as partner earned over £10k, until lo born, then got tax credits. jc said i could claim income support if not with living with partner.
you should also get the surestart grant, however you should be quick as not sure how much longer this grant will be continuing.

You really should have thought things through before getting pregnant. I suggest you tell the baby's father to pull his finger out and contribute..
