- Obviously Zidane had said "Go F*** yourself", or "F*** you".
This whole thing is silly. Both what Zidane said and what Materazzi said are normal on field ribbing. Zidane's reaction was the only thing wrong.
That said, I have a severe distaste for both the French and Italian national teams - one steals talent from poor African countries, the other simply cheats.

Again - those are very common insults in the West! Any European, N. or S. American can hear that in the context of a competition and not blow up. Anyone who thinks that it's serious is bringing values into the equation that are not the norm to us.
That said - are we supposed to walk on egg shells because an opponent is Muslim or Sikh, or Jewish, or Shinto?

I felt really ashamed when Zidane walked beside the World Cup and didn´t even looked at it, I think he lost his mind, he should have not done that, he deserved the punishment he received. But it was such a shame, he is a pro and he must understand that this was, what materazzi wanted.

no, i don't think Zidane's reaction was wrong. he was completely righteous in what he felt. do you understand what such an insult means?
again, i don't think what Zidane did was wrong; but he could have kept his anger in until the end of the match to get back at Materazzi. then he could have spared such an exit from his career.

To me I don't think Zidane over reacted, it's about defending his family! I don't hate Materazzi for saying what he said [if this is true] because he was defending himself but still I would have defended my family!

ahahhaha I too am from North America. Christian sure told you, lol. christian is completely right. but ill add something more.
Fights (whether in sports or not) can start over the mildest things. People may lose their tempers; they may not like the other person; or they may just enjoy fighting. Such examples are actually very common. Think about how many fights that you have witnessed personally that have resulted from really stupid things that seem trivial. Hmmm I am starting to get an itch to fight you right now...
Zidane did not overreact. People who criticize him have overreacted.

zidane's fame & fortune couldn't hide the fact that he is a nut-case who needs professional help.
there is obviously a deep rooted "problem" in him concerning his sister,for him to react like that!
