Would having more than one adaptor per pc help? Like one inside and another USB one?

Also, my friend says he wraps wire round the aerial of his wireless router and this makes it work better- Is that plausible?

Thanks.

If it's speed you're looking for, you can modify some settings to get a few more Kb/s. Go to 'Network Connections' and right-click on 'local area connection' (or wireless connection)
and click on properties. This brings up a box that has 'Client for Microsoft Networks' (uncheck this) and 'File and printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks' (uncheck also)
There are also 'QoS Packet Scheduler' and 'Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP)'

(In order)
'Client for Microsoft Networks' -(unchecked now)
What this does is tells your computer that you do not want it to be a server for other computers in the area (so that people with wireless connection capability around the area cannot hack your wireless signal and steal internet service from you without having to pay for it)

'Fileand printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks'- (unchecked now)
This tells the computer you do not need it for file sharing or printer sharing. Only uncheck this if you do not use a connected printer with a wireless latop or other network computer in the house. You will not be able to use the printer from another computer that isnt directly connected to it (the printer) with this setting unchecked.

The 'QoS Packet Scheduler' and 'Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP)'
You may uncheck the Qos (Quality of Service) packet scheduler, but there is a greater chance of your internet slowly coming to a halt.
And the 'internet protocol' is required for internet service.

Objects inbetween your access point (your wireless router) and your node (computer with wireless adapter) and distance between them are what effect performance. If there is a lengthy distance inbetween them, you may want to pick up a range extender. You should be able to find one on newegg.com or your local Circuit City or Best Buy would have one.

wraping wire around the arial will only increase the rang look here if your internet is running to slow put a fan on both if they are cool they will run faster. A normal portable fan facing them both and set to low should do the trick.
