One goldfish alone requires a 30 gallon tank. Each additinal goldfish adds another 10 gallons to the 30 gallon. For example, since you are roughly thinking about getting two, you will need a 40 gallon tank. They can grow between 6" to 1' long in a short time. Goldfish are very messy and can cause your ammonia levels to reach critical and kill your fish.
This is the best information I can give you.

Hi Aamir, Funnily enough I have just posted a reply to a very similar question so I hope you don't mind me taking the liberty of simply copying & pasting it [it will save me about 10 minutes of typing!!] :

The very smallest tank for two Goldfish to live happily in is a filtered, lidded 20 gallon but they will soon outgrow this & you will need to upgrade. Goldfish kept in smaller tanks & especially bowls are not being given the chance to develop to their full potential & die prematurely by getting stunted &/or suffocating in their own waste. The myth that small tanks & bowls are suitable for Goldfish is simply a money making stunt by unscrupulous stores who care more about profit than animal welfare because they know you will be back for more fish once your initial ones have died & so on.

When planning for Goldfish always buy the biggest tank you can afford/fit in your home as properly cared for Goldfish can live many years & grow well over a foot long. The link below tells you all about good Goldfish care. Excellent choice to want more than one as they always do better with a buddy or two! Bear in mind also that no other types of fish apart from similar types & sizes of Goldfish make good tank buddies.

Well done for asking first before buying, I have seen too many disasters occur out of haste & a little research avoids unnecessary tears & suffering later. Good luck in whatever you decide!

What size tank do you have? Goldfish need 20 gallons per fish, at least. They are also EXTREMELY messy, so you either need a majorly great filter (or two), or to do water changes once a week or more (preferably more). They don't need a heater, but they need a air bubbler and a lot of room.

Remember to put dechlorinator in your water and when you do water changes, only remove 25-50% of the water, depending on the size of the tank--the larger the tank, the smaller the water change.

For links, I would simply just get on google.com and type in "care of goldfish". Good luck!
