There are some very good answers so far. Some of you guys are very sharp. Others sound more like parrots repeating slogans or mottos.

NDGBILL provides a most candid and profound insight into the situation.

Anti-semitism is racist words or deeds directed against a JEWISH PERSON while anti-zionism has nothing to do with Jews as individuals or as a religion or culture but merely the repudiation of what in fact is a political movement called Zionism.

Those who DO not want to realize the profound difference are of course the Zionists themselves for theuy NEED the history of thec Jewish people to rationalize/justify their POLITICAL movement.

These Zionists define anti-semitism as racism against Jews on an individual bases and anti-zionism as racism against Jews on a collective bases.

This is pure crap of course for anti-zionism is all about and only about the rejection of a political movement that some/many Jews agree with and much of the world agrees with.

While any analogy is never perfect ,this nonesense is the same as saying that if a person is anti-American it is the same thing as saying that they are anti-republican. The first is a racist position while the latter is a repudiation of a POLITICAL IDEOLOGY that some Americans believe in .

In fact many around the world believe that Zionism itself is a racist ideology and their arguments are very persuasive.

Just read the definition of Zionism.

What in fact it says,is that Jews are to return to Palestine and re-establish the ancient Israeli state IRREGARDLESS OF WHO THE HELL LIVES THERE NOW ,WHO THE HELL GOVERNS THAT LAND WHO THE HELL .

Zionism makes it very clear that Israel must be re-established NO MATTER WHAT THE COSTS and anyone who knows anything about the Zionist terrorist (particularily two by the name of M.Begin of the Igun TERRORIST ZIONIST group and I.Shamir of the infamous TERRORIST ZIONIST GROUP THE STERN GANG ) who slaughtered thousands throughout Palestine in the 1940s that eventually led to the creation of Israel.

To those who desperately need to "blur" the lines of these twom terms ,I pray that the NATIVE PEOPLES OF AMERICA (a people whose genocide by us good little stinking Christians was a genocide that was much more extensive then the holocaust) start a ZIONIST type movement and like the Zionists proclaim that they will go back to the lands that they once ruled (JUST LIKE THE JEWS) and re-take these lands even if it means that it may take the slaughtering methods of the Zionist terrorists to do so.

Considering that it was the US that forced the creation of the State of Israel through the UN ,I am sure the US will again stand up to the plate and allow these GENOCIDED Native peoples to have THEIR own lands back.

Lastly I hope that it is the very houses/properties of those that want/need to blur the lines that are the FIRST lands that these Native "Zionists" take back but I hope not by force as the ZIONIST TERRORIST DID IN THE 40'S .

This will give them a very practical example that will explain the profound difference between being "against a people" and "against a political movement",
.

I have spent a lifetime fighting racism of all kinds but especially anti-semitism but I am an anti-zionist .

Anti-Semitism is a rascist hatred of Jewish people.

Anti-Zionism is not so much being against the State of Israel, but against the Zionist movement of conquest-the illegal building of Settlements and annexing of Palestinian land; and Occupation against U.N. Resolutions.

"Anti-Semitism" is used as a label on any one who criticizes Israel's Foreign Policy and points out Israel's violation of International Law by Zionists like Alan Derschowitz.

A very good question.

Anti semitism is bigotry just like hating blacks or asians or protestants or catholics. It means you are a stupid ignorant racist etc....

Anti zionism means that you dont agree witht the idea of giving the land that is now called israel to the zionists that wanted it. It means that you dont think its ok to take advantage of some other people to please others. It means you are colorblind and that you are not a racist and that you do not prefer jews over muslims or arabs. It also means you do not believe in a colonialist mentality that europeans can go to where people of color live and claim the land as theirs like we still live in the 16th century.

They purposely blur the lines as a means of propaganda, and to smear dissent and make you appear to be a bigot when in reality you are exactly the opposite--you are an anti bigot. It is zionism that is bigotry.

Zionists are the sort of world-domination wing of Judiasm. The vast majority of Jews are against it. Anti-Semitism has come to mean the hatred of Jews in general. Anti-Zionism would be a more justified hatred of the radical sub-sect of totalitarians.

anti-Zionism is more the movement against the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine, whereas anti-Semitism is anti-Jew.

Anti-Semites is anti Semites. anti-Zionism is anti-Jewish. Though many people use the words interchangeably, even describing non-Jewish Semites as anti-Semites. My guess is that they do not realize that Arabs are Semites too.
And seeing that I got a thumbs down, I guess some are determinted to not realize it. I'm very pro-Israel by the way. I just think we ought to use the words correctly.

If you are anti-semitic, you hate both Arabs and Jews. Both Hebrew and Arabic are Semitic languages. Both groups equally deserve to be hated.
