Well I disagree with you. Elvis was the Bomb!!! In the 1950's, he was a phenomenon. He moved and sang in a way that no one had ever heard of. My mother grew up in Memphis and he sang at her High school prom. I lived not far from him when I was very young, so Elvis was a big part of our life, as an entertainer. I've never felt about anyone like I do him. I couldn't tell you his greatest hits, because I love almost every song, especially the Christmas songs, the rock and the gospel music. And there's "Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, That's All Right and Hard Headed Woman."

can't narrow it down to 1 so here are my top 4. sorry - it's the best i could do.
in the ghetto
american trilogy
can't help fallin in love
always on my mind

as far as comparing him to freddy mercury there is no way to do that - to me that is like comparing apples to oranges. they are from two different generations - both were the greatest artist of their time. i am not old enough to remember the beginning of elvis's career (of course i know the songs) only the end. i remember freddy mercury's entire career. what a shame it was so short.

The two sided smash hit, Don't Be Cruel/Hound Dog in terms of popularity was Elvis' greatest hit. It was # 1 on Billboard's pop, country, and r&b charts including #1 on the pop charts for 11 weeks.

His best vocal performances, in my opinion, were on Jailhouse Rock and Suspcious Minds.

Probably his signature song and the one most synonymous with Elvis is "Hound Dog". I've heard it a million different ways by a million different bands but that song belongs to Elvis, nobody did it better.

I love "you gave me a mountain" because my dad basically brought me up with Elvis songs.

Theres another one I love but I can't remember the name ...

All I remember is the words "Glory Glory Hallelujah" - It's probably the most obvious name in the world and I can't remember it =(

Anyway I love it.
