Hi,

12x² - 18xy - 54y²
------------------------
6y² + 4xy

This factors into:

6(x - 3y)(2x + 3y)
-----------------------
2y(3y + 2x)

Cancel out the (2x + 3y) factors. Reduce the 6 and the 2.

3(x - 3y)
------------ <== answer
.....y

3(x - 3y)/y It could also be written like this.

I hope that helps!! :-)

Notice that -18xy + 4xy = -14xy and 54y^2/6y^2 = 9. The expression simplifies to 12x^2 - 14xy - 9.

12x^2-18xy-54y^2/6y^2+4xy
=6(2x^2-3xy-9y^2)/2y(3y+2x)
=3(2x^2-6xy+3xy-9y^2)/y(2x+3y)
=3{2x(x-3y)+3y(x-3y)}/y(2x+3y)
=3(2x+3y)(x-3y)/y(2x+3y)
=3(x-3y)/y ans

6x^2-9xy-27y^2/(3y^2+2xy)
3((2x+3y)(x-3y)/(y(3y+2x))
3(x-3y)/y
3x/y-9
