JOG FALLS!!!! (Karnataka)
Jog Falls are the highest waterfalls in India. It has 4 waterfalls. The water flows from the Linganamakki Dam further up the Sharavati River. The longest waterfall is the Raja which falls 293m.
Jog Falls is surrounded by lush, spectacular countryside which is perfect for gentle hiking. The bottom of the falls is accessible via the 1200+ stairs that stand by the bus stand. But if you are using these stairs in monsoon season beware of leeches.
Jog Falls is at its mightiest during the monsoon season in India which is June to September.
Look up some pictures on Google Images - Its AMAZING!!!
And watch this video - http://www.metacafe.com/watch/615283/jog_falls/
The best place to stay near Jog Falls is Gokarna. Its the nearest place which has tourists and it is an amazing place.
To get there from Jog Falls you can get a 3 daily bus to Karwar from the bus stand which takes 2 and a half hours and costs 38 rupees (about 50p/$1). From Karwar you get a 3 daily bus to Gokarna which takes an hour and costs 22 rupees (about 30p/$0.60).
Your other option which is what i did is to rent out a moped from Gokarna (about £2/$4) a day. Petrol is 40p/$0.80 a litre. You can get to Jog Falls in a moped but you have to be patient as Indian road signs are occasionally wrong and you can find yourself lost!! But its all part of the adventure.
Gokarna (Cow's Ear) is a really great place. Its one of the most sacred sites in South India and has a great atmosphere. Its a sleepy, charming town with wooden houses on the main street and attrative traditional houses in nearby alleys.
Gokarna is the new place to go for the travellers who are fed up with the overcrowdedness of Goa and even has beaches to rival its neighbour.
A 15 minute walk from Gokarna or a 150 rupee (£2/$4) tuk tuk ride will take you to Om beach which is a gorgeous beach which is so uniquely different. You have a couple of shacks there serving food and drinks. Its usually deserted apart from on Indian holidays.
In Gokarna i HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Hotel Gokarna International Hotel. Its an air-conditioned hotel which is classy and has character. Its well organized and modern and all rooms have a balcony and TV. A single room is 195 rupees (£2.40/$4.80), a double room is 230 rupees (£2.80/$5.60), and a triple room is 300 rupees (£3.60/$7.20)
From Gokarna you can get to Margao in South Goa on a bus for 50 rupees (60p/$1.20) and this takes 4 hours.
You can get to Mangalore on a bus for 95 rupees (£1.20/$2.40? and this bus takes 6 hours.
Or you can get a Deluxe bus to Bangalore which costs 300 rupees (£3.50/$7) and takes 12 hours. There are lots of other buses to various locations but these are the popular routes out of Gokarna.
Or you can get a train from Gokarna Road Train station which is 9km from town. This will cost you 100 rupees (£1.20/$2.40) in a tuk tuk to get there from Gokarna. Or you can get an hourly bus which costs 6 rupees (10p/$0.20)
There is a 10.45am train to Margao (Goa) which takes 2 hours and it costs 24 rupees (30p/$0.60). Another leaves at 6.30 pm and takes only 1 and a half hours but costs more at 55 rupees (60p/$1.20).
Or there are trains to Mangalore which take 5 hours and costs 45 rupees (50p/$1). They leave at 4pm and 1.45am.
ANYWAY, I HOPE THIS HELPS AND YOU WILL HAVE AN AMAZING TIME - TRUST ME.
:-)

Athirappalli and Vazhachal, the two scenic and popular waterfalls on the edge of the Sholayar forest ranges are just 5 km apart.
The falls are very popular with tourists. Athirappally is located 78 kms from Kochi, located at the entrance to Sholayar ranges, this waterfall is a popular picnic spot.
Affording to the onlookers, one of the most bewitching sights, Athirappally Falls is about 80ft. high and located in the forest area.
Combined with the greenery, it infuses freshness into any tired soul. The Athirapally Falls join the Chalakkudy River after plummeting a drop of 80 feet.
Vazhachal is a picturesque spot just a short drive from Athirapally and is adjacent to dense green forestland. Vazhachal is part of the Chalakkudy River.
Both the waterfalls, their cool, misty waters cascading down in the backdrop of thick green forest and rocky terrain, are a scintillating experience to visitors.
Athirapilly falls is popularly known as the Indian Niagara falls.
