In point of fact, I have. We own a few hundred acres of land with pine trees on it. The Village asked if we would donate one of our prize trees to be used at Christmas. The one my parents chose was the one they planted when I was born, and they did donate it . I went the day they men came to cut it down and I hugged my tree and cried like a baby, only to find out later, that My Dad was pulling my leg. My tree still stands and when I go to see it, I have a one way conversation with it.and always give it a big hug.

One of my favorite movies is La Double Vie de Veronique.
At the end, she hugs a tree. It is very subtle. The first time I didn't remember it, but it is very famous for the people who know about the movie.

Actually, yes. When my dad,( from Alabama where there
are a crap load of trees) decided to cut down my favorite tree in the back yard. But I held my piece. (Now I own a forest)

Yes I did, once. This tree looked like it could really use a hug, so I went up and gave it one. It turned around and slapped me and said I was fresh!

You'll usually find me hugging trees around closing time. I also hug light poles and just about anything else to keep me from falling down.
