I like to reflect on what I've just read and re-read my favorite parts of the book. Then I toss it aside and move on to something else.

1 - Slap the book on the cover and say 'DONE' (okay - a strange thing to do, but years ago I was under the impression WRONGLY that I was thick and reading books was for clever swots - which it turns out I actually am - so when I first started reading and finished a novel, I slapped it on the cover and said 'DONE' in triumph at the fact I'd read a book the whole way through. With the next book I did the same, and the one after that and so on and so on. Until now MANY HUNDREDS OF BOOKS LATER IT IS A PERSONAL RITUAL THAT I WILL DO TILL I DIE.

2 - Put the completed book on my heaving floor to ceiling book case. Where it will stay until I decide to re read it or they carry me out in a wooden box.

3 - Start another straight away.

4 - Go onto Amazon and add another book to by shopping basket.

I'm awful when I finish a great book. I walk around for days in a sort of daze, thinking about what I've just read, reliving certain parts. I actually dream about some books right after I've finished them. If they're especially good, I will often start over and reread them right away. When I'm really into a book I read extremely fast to find out what happened and sometimes miss small details. This way I can pick up on them.

Hello again skycat. When I finish a book I give it to someone else, sometimes my brother, sometimes a friend, sometimes a charity shop, I used to keep everything I'd read but not anymore, I need space in my house.
You probably know that Iris Murdoch would sometimes finish WRITING a novel, and start another one half an hour later.

Usually stick it on my bookshelf for another day. I have quite an extensive book collection, by lots of different authors and different genres. If the book in question is a very good read, I have no problems with reading them over again.

If I have borrowed it from the library, I return it, and if I have liked the book, I will usually try to buy it for my collection.

I sometimes pass it on to another. I always ponder each book I read for a while. The length of time varies from book to book, depending on how interested I was in the topic or plot-lines. Sometimes I reccommend the book to others.
Good luck and may God bless you.

Give it back to my friend Karen - she lends me a lot of good books! Sometimes I get my own - then I lend them to her. And I always like to have a big stack of unread books so I can start another one straight away. Otherwise I feel a bit down.
