Not all of us are like that. Just Ohio mainly.

Granted, many American G. I.'s probably earned a very justified reputation for gullibility while fighting in Europe and Asia in World War I and II. Many of the soldiers were straight off the farm or from small cities and towns, so they lacked urbane and politically-correct insights. Most of them were also very well aware of their lack of sophistication.

Even now, the United States is a big enough and an isolated enough country that many Americans travel outside of it infrequently or not at all. Short of making Machiavelli's The Prince and Sun Tzu's The Art of War mandatory reading material, most Americans will continue think the best of most people until events prove them wrong. Of course, the current war in Iraq is a huge step in correcting this character trait. Perhaps, someday soon, we will be just as cynical and jaded as the above poster.

Incidentally, I am soliciting funds to raise the sophistication level of American women. All funds solicited from citizens of EU countries will go towards sending a deserving middle-aged, middle-class Texas woman to Paris, France, during fashion week where she will be transformed into a tres chic chick.

P. S. I accept PayPal.

I don't know how true or accurate it was, but Jay Leno a couple of weeks ago stated that in a recent poll over 25% of Americans believe the sun rotates around the Earth. Also when GWB first took office he thought Africa was a country not a continent. Many Americans still believe that Iraq had something to do with 9-11. Also, many believe American forces are in Iraq to protect the USA which is ridiculus.

Many times we are portrayed as such because we try to help others and be kind to folks in need. Many times we get burnt doing the "right thing" and guys like you think we are gullible and naive. I have been taken by people I've tried to help...but so did Jesus. Guess I won't change 'cause then I would be someone who doesn't feel the pain of others and, if that costs me occasionally, I guess I can afford it.

List of americans who are not gullible and naive:

Donald Trump
Bill Gates
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Me

so I guess you can't say "all"

you could say "most" or "many" but since I know at least 4 who aren't, you can't say "all"

If you think 300 million people can be generalized like that, you're the one who's gullible and naive.

In what way? Did you manage to pull the wool over someones eyes? They were probably either very young and without the cynicism to overcome their naivete or so old that even a youngster could confuse them.

I wonder if you've actually had the opportunity to test your assumption that "all americans (sic)" are gullible and naive. Can you please supply some sort of date corroborating this notion?

Could it be that you merely believe that "all americans (sic)" are gullible and naive and that you base that belief on incomplete or misleading data?

Why does the rest of the world like to generalize all Americans. It really says something about their character.

Oh my dear, I don't think so. I am a senior and have never been duped for my money.
And all my friends are smarter than that. Some of the people are so trusting but I think it's a small margin.
