There is sufficient credible evidence that Silverstein (a close friend of the Bush family) may have been aware of a 'terrorist attack' on his buildings, which were losing huge amounts of money. George W. Bush's younger brother was in charge of security just before the 'attacks'.
The 'attacks' stirred emotional frenzies among Americans, allowing Bush to con Congress into letting him run rip shod over the Constitution in his quest to settle a family vendetta against Saddam Hussein by declaring an unjustified, unconstitutional, illegal, immoral 'war' on another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States.
Why was much of the debris from the 'attacks' suddenly used to build a new U.S. battleship instead of being put in storage for further investigations?
There are a lot of unanswered questions, including yours about Silverstein. It's also possible, in my opinion, that George W. Bush knew nothing about the attacks. This is evidenced by his reaction when told about it at a Florida elementary school. Why was he at that school that day? Does Bush normally read children's books to students?
Why, when he was told about the tragedy, did he do nothing? Probably because his handlers deliberately had not coached him, telling him what to say, how to act, or what to do. Had he known about it in advance, his deer-in-the-headlight look would have given it away, or he would have made some stupid remark at a press conference and revealed the whole plan. My guess this 'attack' was planned and executed by Cheney's henchmen on Cheney's orders. -RKO- 08/18/07

Anyone who knew about the 9/11 attack beforehand was either part of Al Qaeda or Nostradamus.
