This would tend to be a more accurate and descriptive version of what it actually is .
In school they have no trouble teaching the Greek Gods are simple mythology and no such beings existed .
Imagine a man who could throw lightening bolts . For many Greeks these Gods were real till they were either killed or converted .
To live on this planet you have to go along to get along .

In the Seventh grade, they taught us about Ancient Greek Mythology. That lasted for about a day, when the parent's of a Hellenic Neopagan went to complain to the School District Council. A week later, gym was cut to fund Comparative Religion classes.
I digress, point is: It depends who you ask.

You should ask this question in religion and spirituality. You might find more atheists there. Asking this question in the politics section will only open you up to criticism, and ridicule.
But, to answer your question a little more in depth. The Old Testament contains eternal truths, and a retelling of history.
Perhaps that is the definition of mythology.

But we Christians also have the Old Testament in the Bible. What would we call the Koran? Arab mythology of mad man?

Christian Mythology would be more apt, since it's the Christian Bible's version of the stories.
