i have a chance of having a blood clot, is there a pill i can take that wont increase my chances of having a blood clot?

Low estrogen or progesterone only pills lower your chances of clots and stroke. However, you must weigh this risk with the risk of you still ovulating but the embryo being aborted because your uterine lining is so thin (low estrogen and progesterone only pills work by keeping the uterine lining thin so that an embryo can't implant. High estrogen pills work by preventing ovulation.)

You can always get the IUD - if you already have a baby. You don't have to take any pills, and there are ones with no hormones or very little hormones. There's one that you can keep in for 5 years, but can have it removed anytime you decide that you want to try and get pregnant.

No, all birth control pills and any hormonal type of b/c have this risk factor, unfortunately.

You may want to try the NuvaRing. It really helps to eliminate a lot of the side effects, since it's not orally taken, and it's a whole lot less fail proof than the patch.

use a condom, and don't smoke. all pills carry a risk.
