Is it any good? Nice places to visit?

Depending on how long you intent to stay, Thasos is an interesting small island that can be reached easily by boat from either Kavala or Keramoti, the later been the shorter trip.
Has a lot of interesting beaches with Limenaria Xrisi Amoudia and Makriamos the most interesting.
In Limenas, Thasos's main city you will find many taverns and eating places, some with very intriguing recipes.
A circular road runs all the coastline and a leisurely drive is an absolute must. Also visit Theologos up the mountain.
The North side is more covered by trees and consequently more cooler than the South, but both are beautiful in their own way.
Should the stay be not a fixed period, then a trip to the mainland and nearby Alexandroupolis is a memorable experience, especially through Porto Lagos and the nearby Vistonis Lake.
Between Kavala and Keramoti, Nea Karvali is famous for its "kourampiedes". A small butter cookie covered with fine sugar. The secret lies in the butter but the taste is well known fact.

Hi, I went to Thassos about 12 years ago. What a beautiful place!! Stayed in Scala Potamia (Golden Beach is right next to it). Loved it.

Yes, you go from Kavala, Keramoti, and it is very closed.The most famous place is Nisteri, and there is a lot of night life in the island...Especially near the beach some good restuarants and bars...I would suggest it to you

One of my favourite islands. Don't go expecting a wild time though, it's very laid back. Lovely beaches & a very green island.
