Licensing. Bonds (who IS a member of the MLBPA, and anyone who says otherwise is sadly misinformed or just stupid, sometimes it's hard to tell which) has for several years opted out of the group licensing agreements that the union offers to its members (of which Bonds is one), which are used for licensing the names and likenesses of its constitutent players (including Bonds, except he opts out) to various licensors.

If a video game maker wants to include Bonds they must deal directly with him or his representatives.

All union members have the right to opt out, Bonds is the only one who chooses to do so.

he choose to opt out of the major league marketing of players so he markets himself. he's the only player do to so (a few other smaller players did as well i believe). hence is one REAL REASON why mlb gets so mad at him is because they can't make money of of him.

that's why he's not in the games. this was back in 02 or 04 i think.

In order to be in those games you have to sign the rights to your name - he opted out of the MLBPA licensing agreement like Michael Jordan did.

In MLB the show - you can create him. (my son did and very much enjoys striking him out!)

Because his big, fat steroid head won't fit on the cover. Also, video game technology hasn't reached the point of compensating for chemically enhanced players.

Contracts with competing companies I'm sure. Michael Jordan was never in the EA NBA series. Besides, who cares he's scum anyway. The only fun would be pegging him everytime he was up to bat.
