Wow, so if you got it in an email, then it must be true. I'll forward some of the ones I have received from a gentleman in Nigeria asking for some help with a financial crisis to you.
Read the link, it will clear up a lot for you.

If I seem snippy, I apologize, but this idiotic myth has gone on for far too long.
1. His mother was an Atheist.
2. His father was a Muslim, but there is no evidence that he was a radical Muslim. He left the family when Barack was two, so he really didn't have much of an influence in his son's life. Also, Barack's father became an Atheist around the time he married Barack's mother.
3. Barack isn't a Muslim, never was.
4. He is a Christian, he attends the United Church of Christ, he's been a member since 1985, long before he got into politics. When he was young and living in Indonesia, he went to a Catholic-run school for a couple of years and another school that was predominately Muslim for a couple of years.. There are some who claim that he went to a Madrassa, these people are idiots. Obama did attend a school where the most of the students and staff were Muslim, but it was a PUBLIC school much like ours. There wasn't any sort of religious indoctrination and students of every faith attended, it was a secular school at heart.
5. Just because someone gave you an e-mail, doesn't make the contents factual. If everything you saw in an e-mail was true, then we'd all be killed by the ghosts of dead folks for not forwarding their message to 20 other people.
I can probably expose the myths of this particular e-mail if you sent it to me.

His father (from Africa) was Muslim, not his mother (from Kansas). He lived in Indonesia, or thereabouts, as a young child where, yes, his school, like most there, was Muslim. This is what you call a distraction. The reason you should not vote for him is his membership in the Counsel on Foriegn Relations. Other CFR candidates: Rudy Giuliani, Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney, John Edwards, John McCain,Chris Dodd, Fred Thompson, Bill Richardson. Among other notable members: David Rockefeller, Dick Cheney, John Kerry, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Ronald Reagan, G. H. W. Bush, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, Condoleeza Rice, Paul Wolfowitz, Alan Greenspan, Colon Powell, Henry Kissinger, Newt Gringrich.
Party does not matter. Petty differences and diversions do not matter.
The CFR is doing the dirty work of the Federal Reserve. I can't say enough how important this is. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 is the hugest crime ever pulled off on the American people. You'll never hear about it in the "news" but you are using the best tool there is to find out right now.
People will dismiss this, of course, we're all conditioned to. I offer one simple test to see for yourself and begin your search for the truth:
Look up the Federal Reserve in your phonebook.
If it were a government institution, it would be in the Blue Pages. It isn't. You'll find it in the back with all the other businesses along with FedEx. It is a private corporation. The owners are a secret. Congress has no oversight and there are no audits. Yet they are allowed to create all of our money.
Crazy stuff, I agree, but not for believing it. Because it is true and allowed to happen. People must wake up to this soon or it will be too late.

It can be politely described as an exageration. His father was muslem, he attended a nominally muslem school in indonesia, breifly, at a very young age, and he has since joined a touchy-feely all-inclusive liberal - but still nominally Christian - church (which I can never remember the name of).
I'm guessing he's really more a of a Theist or a Secular Humanist than Christian (though the differences between a liberal theist and a very liberal christian are probably minimal), but he's almost certainly not a Muslim.

Go to BarackObama.com. His father was from Kenya and born a Muslim. His mother was a Caucasian from the midwest. He was for the most part raised in Hawaii by his Caucasian grandparents. He belongs to a United Church of Christ in Chicago. I see the neo-cons are busy putting out untruthful propaganda. Politics is such a nasty business. There is no truth to that e-mail, but don't take my word for it; check it out for yourself.

his father was indeed a Muslim, his mother wasn't but Obama did attend Muslims schools and has a solid background in the religion. the church that he attends now has had some controversies in the past and i expect with start to get more scrutiny if obama is selected to run either as president for v.p. fasten your seat belts, it is going to be a bumpy ride lol.

My understanding is that his father is a muslim but his mother wasnt. While he lived in Africa somewhere, he was in a muslim school. That is all I know.
