starting prices are around 800- 1000 bucks ,and that's for an average car,paint and supplies have doubled in price in the past few years,and this made everything go up,but to get a good job that will last ,you might as well plan on spending around 1200 bucks total,2 years ago you could have got a good job for 800 bucks ,but when paint goes up ,the body shops pass the cost on to the consumer,good luck on it.

It relly does vary widely. If you want a good job then there's a lot of prep to gt the body ready. Good quality paint is expensive and a good painter commands a good wage. I recently paid a bit over $8,000 for a complete paint job on my '65 Mustang.
