it does.
It orbits around the center of our galaxy = aka two black holes.

but, as long as humans have been on earth, its wasn't even come close to finishing one orbit.

it moves at 217 km/s.
Thats 485280 miles per hour

The Sun is actually moving around the Milky Way. Just like the Earth orbits the Sun, the Sun orbits the center of the galaxy.

well actualy it is mooving because it is moving with our sloar system arould the galaxy. and that is moving through the universe. but looking in just are own solar system it moves too. rember For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. that means tha if the sun puts a force on the earth or another planet that planet must also put a forse on the sun. even though the center of this is close to the sun it casues the sun to "wabble".

Yes, the sun and our solar system are moving around the galaxy. But it's NOT because there is a black hole at the center of the galaxy. The sun revolves around the galaxy because of the gravity of the galaxy. This gravity would be there even if there were no black holes.

Remember the gravity of 1000 stars at the center of the galaxy is the same as the gravity of a black hole with the mass of 1000 suns. Mass is mass, and once you get a few light years away, it doesn't matter if its in black hole or not.

Actually, You're Wrong!!

The Sun is moving around the center of the Milky Way Galaxy!!
It has a period of around a few hundred million years.....

And why is the Sun moving around the centre of the Milky Way??

Because it is believed that there is a Black hole at the centre of the Galaxy which causes the Sun to revolve around it(The same principle as the Earth revolving around the Sun)

The sun like all objects in our galaxy (or any other galaxy) orbit around the galaxies center, which is thought to be a supermassive black hole. Pretty much everything in our universe revolves around something else. Whether it is electrons rotating around an atom nucleus or galaxies that orbit each other. There is nothing static in the universe. I hope this helps. Have a good weekend!

The latest I heard was that solar system's absolute velocity is on the order of 20 million miles per day. And my GF still complains she doesn't travel enough....LOL

That velocity is measured with respect to the background radiation. So we might be going faster,

Interesting stuff I'd say.

All the planets in our Solar System orbit the sun and in turn our solar system orbits the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way. It takes about 225 million years or one cosmic year for the sun and nine to travel around the milky way once.

The sun 'is' moving around the galaxy. This is what astronomers have figured out.

the sun IS moving, to a certain extent....
but it doesnt move because the forces (gas&radiation pressure, and gravity) are equal.
i think...
