answer this question. I read so many bad things about it. I am going to take my first lupron depot shot next week. My ob/gyn talks like it is not big deal. He said I may get some hot flashes and mood swings. Said I will be in menapause for six months. Then I started to read all the stuff people said it did to them. I know there are lots of drugs that cause severe side effects to people that would not even do anything to me. Please someone give me some positive feed back on this drug. I am taking it for endo and infertility.

I'm really sorry, I know you want positive feedback, but I had my first shot for the same reasons you are getting yours one month ago. I would rather have surgery every 6 months than be on this medication. I have never been so miserable in my life. And its not the hot flashes or the mood swings that are horrible, its the constant headaches, the never sleeping, the weight gain, the constant fatigue, the joint pain, the psychosis (seriously, I feel like a crazy person). I have never had problems with depression or any mental disorder, but since this medicine started.......dear God. Its terrible. My doctor acted like it was no big deal as well. But now im stuck on this medicine until October when I'm due for my second shot and I'm going to do everything in my power to not get another one. It has ruined me. I hate it. I'm miserable. That and it was SUPPOSED to stop my periods....hence menopause.....but Ive been bleeding for 18 days strait now. That has never happened to me. Since I was 12 years old, I have been every 27 days without birthcontrol. And now my body is all screwed up. But, like you said, it effects everyone differently. You may have no side effects. They say that the side effects only effect 5% of women on Lupron. But everyone I've talked too, has had a terrible time with it. Please do a lot of research. If your condition is like mine, you may have no other choice but to just take the meds and deal with it, but honey if you do, please make sure your family knows that these effects are possible and to just be supportive and patient with you. Your either going to feel like a brand new woman, or like you've been posessed by the devil. I hope for your sake you have a better go with it than I did. Good Luck :)

I've not done Lupron itself because of a seizure risk with it but I can answer based on my experience with another medication called Zoladex. I did have some mood swings for a bit with my second course which was last year but I found that taking B6 as part of B Complex was very helpful to me.

I've also met some other women who have done Lupron for their endometriosis and had wonderful results.

Every case is different when it comes to Lupron and the issue of side effects even though like you I have heard more bad than good which is why I chose the Zoladex instead.
