Ok so ive had my laptop for 6 months

and i set it so when i close the lid nothing will happen

this morning i closed it and it was fine

later in the morning i closed it again and when i opened it again a blue screen came up saying something (so sorry i cant remember what it said, but i no it was something bad) so i had to hold the off button to trun it off

later i turned it back on and with out thinking of it i closed the lid again went away and when i come bakc to open it it was on a black screen and nothing would happen, but the laptop was still on

ive never had a problem with the laptop before, and i really hope its not broke as my parents brought it for me.

Has anyone had the same problem with there laptop and if so how did u fix it?

Does anyone know how to fix it or make it back to normal again?

I dont want to shut the lid again, to see what happens because i dont want it to break!

Please Please Please Help!!!

Check around the lid, there should be a little switch. It may be stuck down when you close the lid preventing it from turning back on.

But, in any case take it back to the store you bought it from and have them check it out, as was mentioned you should have a 1 year warranty. The store may not be able to deal with the problem but should be able to give you the manufacturer's number to call to have them fix the problem.

It is a problem and it should be fixed. You can't be expected not to close the lid ever again on a Laptop the idea is that you can travel and it is kind of awkward to walk around with the lid open.

it's most likely a driver on the system that is not responding to a sleep or hibernation condition. Device drivers in the system have to be able to handle a "wake-up" from hibernation or sleeping properly. That could easily go into a blue screen if it didn't handle it.

Closing the lid on the laptop should not harm it - most ventilation is on the back and bottom and MOST of them have a hard switch that when the screen is shut the power to the LCD is turned off. Even if you set it to do nothing, it'll still turn the LCD off... it may get a little warmer, but I do it all the time.

You did a bad thing. You should never close the lid on a laptop without turning it off. The ventilation is compromised and it gets too hot. Sleep and hibernation are usually more trouble than they're worth, but if you're not going to shut it down, you have to set it to go to sleep or hibernate when you close the lid.

Hm I think your problem is just a very simple one...
A. You have to change the lid settings to "Do Nothing"
B. Either it might not have enough battery power or it's just on standby
C. The Blue screen might just be any program that you were running ran into a problem

See what happens ^.^

hi, no worries. to resolve this problem, we need more information.
What is the Laptop model? Operating system? What happens when you turn the machine on, that is any audible noise indicating the machine is turning on and so.

You can try
1.. disconnecting all external devices and start the Laptop with the power cord and give us more information.

2.. Check if any Restore disks are given with the machine, and try starting the Laptop with it.

Let us know further,
cheers,
kiran

You should take it back to the place you purchsed it from, because you should have at least a 1yr warranty. If you bought it off the street, take it to a lil mom and pop shop to get it fixed, doesnt seem like its unfixable.
