you would have to contact your local council and they would give you a list of housing assosiations, but you can only buy houses from housing *** if you are a key worker for that town, and councils will not give you a place if you have a roof over your head, good luck in your search

if u type in the town and county council that would get u a website, could u take in a lodger to help with your costs then u could save a bit, or how about looking for live in type jobs, also see if u can find any cheaper privately rented places or look for house shares, the other option is to see if someone would do a swop with u.

Lots of areas now have schemes where you rent half the house and mortgage the other in partnership with a housing association so you can get onto the property ladder. I would look up housing associations in you local phone book and they will give you advice on the scheme. A few of my friends have used this scheme.

Have you tried Sunderland civic centre for information. or go into your local housing assosiation office, they should have listings, of houses available in there areas. They should give you an interview,Explain your situation tell them you cannot afford to live in private acomadation, they will take your details and should put you on the housing list

try putting "housing association" into yahoo search engine I got 1.2million hits! You will probably find a housing association in your area, council housing is limited and often restricted to families and those in desperate need
