how can i lighten the background on this computer?

it was a good color but i hit something on the keyboard and it;s almost black and very hard to see

See the buttons on the bottom of your monitor? That is the contrast, brightness, size....controls.

This depends on your model of pc. Dell- hold down ctrl&alt then use the arrow keys up&down On toshiba-click start open control pannel open display open settings open advanced open color then adjust brightness
