Yes, And while this was happening, all they had to do to people raising the alarm was call them conspiracy theorists with a "tin foil hat". Make those people look crazy. I these ar all there now.
Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Sadly, it's true. Americans have been misled by the two most arrogant, incompetent, greedy, contemptible, cowardly, corrupt U.S. Congress bodies in history. The Republican-led Congress that turned its back while Bush ran rip shod over our Constitution; and the new Democratic-led Congress that promised to end this insane 'war' and has yet to do anything to make that happen.
Not only can American citizens be declared an 'enemy' of the state, jailed, and held without trial - the government can also listen in on your phone conversations without a warrant, citing high technology as the reason for such a flagrant violation of our Constitutional rights.
Patriotic Americans support such actions because our government's lies have scared us into giving government unprecedented abusive powers. Remember, George W. Bush's grandfather, Prescot Bush, was associated with the Hitler regime in Nazi Germany - he learned first hand from the "master". It was Hitler who once said: "How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think." Hitler also suggested that governments tell a lie, make it a big lie, and repeat it often enough; eventually, citizens will believe it all.
We are living in a police state, very similar to the beginnings of the Nazi police state that convinced otherwise-intelligent German citizens that it was 'acceptable' to gas six million Jews. Gradually, American 'ditto heads' will come to believe it's 'acceptable' to insult, injure - or even KILL - liberals, or any others who don't agree with the conservative agenda. -RKO- 08/18/07

The government can do just about anything these days and we as citizens can't stop it. When 9/11 happened, our government changed dramatically and we actually allowed and wanted (might I say) the government to have more power and authority - so we literally gave up our rights to privacy with the quickly drafted and passed 2001 USA (Un)Patriot Act. Now we want our country back, but the chimp has sold it to the highest bidder, foreign interests such as Dubai ( remember the ports that were going to be given to these clowns) and other countries. When will it stop? NEVER, as long as we have presidents such as the chimp in office!

Yes, all that has to happen is that you are declared an enemy combatant by the president and off you go. It kind of reminds one of the brown shirts in Germany in the 1920's and 1930's. It is also what was done in countries like the Soviet Union and today in North Korea.

Yes, the truth hurts, but its still the truth.
Since when do they give a "bleep" if we support any of their decisions, especially fascist like behavior?
There are more shocking revelations to come my friend....

I don't know about arrested, maybe a large fine. Because the administration refuses to do anything to stop illegal immigration, and even abets it by suing states that try to do something about it

gee, and here I thought one of the points of the Jose Padilla trial was that he had one. And in the civilian courts, too.
for those who weren't awake, Padilla is an American citizen and was arrested in America after taking actions overseas in support of Al-Queda.
***
So the deal is that anyone taken in the US who is a citizen [or permanent resident] is tried here in civilian court.
Non-citizens taken here can be deported in the usual way [multiple hearings], likely after their civilian court imposed sentence is served.
persons taken overseas fall into two categories -- soldiers in uniform and all others.
Soldiers in uniform are treated under the Geneva conventions by the US military. That is, incarcerated until a peace treaty ends the war (or other similar event).
Under the Geneva convention, 'all others' are assumed to be spies and may be shot after proving they were fighting while hiding among the civilians. No further proof is required. And no appeal from the military's determination is required.
or didn't you read the Geneva convention? it has only been in force since before you were born, lad.

No it's not the America you grew up in. Times have changed. Freedom is no longer profitable enough to be a viable option.

The gov. Puts all its laws on the net for us to read.
NDAA=national defense authorization act.
Military commissions act etc
the agendas of the banks are there to read for us too.
There is nothing that is hidden.
Via reading books or watching YouTube or reading blogs all is available to us.
Depopulation of the world can be listen to by several CEO guys that talk openly about it.
For example the boss of apple.
The mass vaccination programs in the world and the U.S.
These people dont even conspire anymore.
A person who is able to read and can focus
can figure this out all in 2 years.
We can be all detectives.
We then will find out:
Who it is that does all this atuff.
The details-
and we will find out the WHY=THE MOTIVE.
Everyone-even beyonce would like to know why the world is the way it is.
