I've been dating her daughter for 6 months now. She's loved me so much since i've been involved in her daughters life. I've done a fair amount of things for her and her family, because I love them too.

But lately, she's been hinting to her daughter that there are other men out there. And that she's still really young to be wrapped up into someone. My girlfriend is 18, im 20. I was very hurt when my gf told me this.

Why would she all the sudden change her mind, in not liking me anymore...

*****

Her mother trusts me with her daughter. Or use to. We went to the beach for three days and slept together. My gf came to a bonfire camp out with drinking, and she slept over then. But the other day i wanted to have a small get together at my house and have her sleep over again and her mom blew up. Calling my family nuts.

Why is her mother changing?!?! Being more strict.

HELP

Note:

I'm not planning to wed the woman (anytime soon). My point is why is her mother changing all the sudden.. She use to allow us to spend the night, now we cant?

As a mother myself my only guess would be that she was never very sure about you from the start and only went along with things so as not to get offside with her daughter. As things have progressed she may have come to realise that you are actually there to stay and she can no longer keep up the pretence of you as a temporary person in her daughter's life. Therefore, she is changing tack in becoming more difficult. Sorry if this is hard to hear, but I do feel is the most likely scenario. Good luck - you sound like a very nice guy.

Its seems to me that her mom used you and your compassion in however you helped them out. The mom has a control issue also. Her daughter is 18 and should be able to make her own dissions. Yet, if she doesn't listen to her mom, her mom may just throw her out the house. Are you ready to take over with all her needs? Are you able to afford to have her live with you?

If I was you, I wouldn't help out the mom any more. The girlfriend, well, I would hold off of helping her also. Why? Its her mom and dads job to help her out. Your girlfriend is old enough to get a job and get what she needs. You don't really know if she is the one for you. You are going through all of this now for a reason. You need to remember that if you decide to marry her, she will be a crazy controlling mother in law.

You need to think real hard of the future. A life of being miserable because of a mother in law like that and then your wife in the middle of all this.

I feel the mom used you and you shouldn't let anyone use you for any reason. girlfriend or not.

The very best to you.

There are many reasons it could be, but it is not up to you to do anything, change, or fix anything. You haven't done anything wrong and it is NOT your responsibility to cater to a crazy mother-in-law. You relationship is yours and your girlfriends responsibility and your business, not hers, and not any other family members.

Ask your gf to have a talk with her mother and tell her to back off, or do it yourself, you can't let her meddle or interfere with your relationship, otherwise she will just keep doing it. You need to show her that it is not acceptable behaviour and neither of you will stand for it.

Most important is that you and your girlfriend put up a united front on the issue. Don't let her (the mother) come in between you.

She probably thinks now that it isn't right that her daughter is dating someone older. I personally wouldn't care if my daughter was dating someone 2 years older than her. Or maybe she found out that she was drinking with you and doesn't think that your trustworthy anymore.

Her Mom probably wants her to make sure that you're the one before she commits for life. I bet she still likes you as much as ever.

they are after money and not you. They might have seen another one or she did not like to see you both in the position at your home, considering your parents won't like it.
